Vera Buhlmann

Vera Bühlmann received her PhD in Media Theory from the University of Basel in 2009, after studying English Language and Literature as well as Philosophy at the University of Zürich. Since 2010 she has been co-founding director of the applied virtuality theory-lab in the Chair for Computer Aided Architectural Design at ETH Zürich. Since September 2016 she is Professor of Architectural Theory at the Technical University in Vienna. Together with Ludger Hovestadt, she is also the editor of the applied virtuality book series (Birkhäuser/de Gruyter), which focuses on a general literacy in coding for architects. She has published many essays in a range of media culture and techno-science related fields, and is currently working on a monograph on Michel Serres’ philosophy, tentatively entitled The Ultimate Capital, the Cornucopia of Mathematics and the Price of Information. Her previous book, Die Nachricht, ein Medium. Generische Medialität und städtische Architektonik, was published by AMBRA in 2014.
